You can find rules of crossing the border of the Russian Federation
on the official website of the Border Guard Service of the Russian Federation.
To cross the national border you need valid documents allowing entry to the Russian Federation or departure from the Russian Federation
Staff at the passport control will check the legality of your stay in the Russian Federation, but not whether you have right of entry to your destination country. It is the carrier's responsibility to check whether the passenger holds a visa or other entry permit to the destination country.

Foreign citizens and stateless persons may travel to and from the Russian Federation, if they hold a Russian visa, on valid ID documents recognized by the Russian Federation. When entering the Russian Federation, a foreign citizen must fill out a migration card, which must be kept during the entire stay in the Russian Federation and returned at departure.
Registration rules for foreign citizens and stateless persons are established by the Federal Migration Service of the Russian Federation.
Full information can be obtained from the consular offices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and the Russian Embassy in your country.

Procedures of applying for and extending Russian visa can be found on the website of the Migration Service of the Russian Federation.
Passengers traveling on a tourist visa are required to have booking confirmation from their hotel.
All foreign citizens staying in the Russian Federation longer than 3 days must register with the Ministry of Interior. If you are staying at the hotel, the hotel can complete the registration procedure for you. Please confirm this in advance.
